Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI)
IUI is the method where insemination of sperm is achieved directly in the uterine cavity. Ovulation, natural or induced, prior to IUI is confirmed and within 24hrs insemination takes place.
Patency of at least one Fallopian tube must have been confirmed prior to attempting IUI.
A thin catheter is introduced through the neck of the womb, and sperm is injected through the catheter directly inside the uterine cavity.
A urine pregnancy test follows after 2 weeks to check if there is an ongoing pregnancy.
